Biology explores the diversity and complexity of living organisms. It touches numerous facets of daily life, from environmental interactions to nutrition and bodily functions. In today's world, lacking biological understanding can be a significant disadvantage, as biological discoveries drive societal progress. At Langara, biology students investigate life at every scale—from cellular molecules to complete ecosystems. The program provides comprehensive training across biological disciplines while offering specialized courses in fields like ecology, microbiology, and genetics, allowing students to tailor their studies to individual passions and professional aspirations.
The biological sciences have seen tremendous expansion in both knowledge and career prospects in recent years. Graduates can pursue diverse paths including scientific research, teaching, science communication, healthcare policy, wildlife conservation, or forensic science. Certain biology-related industries, particularly biotechnology and environmental sciences, rank among Canada's most rapidly developing economic sectors.
