The Department of Health Sciences provides an on-campus, thesis-focused Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) program aimed at equipping students with the necessary expertise to conduct supervised research in various health-related fields. Students begin with mandatory coursework before selecting specialized electives to build comprehensive knowledge in their chosen research area. While learners can pursue quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method research approaches, foundational competency in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies is required. The program's flexible design permits elective coursework in either research methodologies or discipline-specific subjects. Priority consideration goes to applicants with prior training in research methods (such as statistics, qualitative research, epidemiology, or general research methodologies).
Through its graduate programs, the Department of Health Sciences fosters a deep comprehension of public health complexities by examining health at individual, community, and organizational levels. These programs prepare graduates to become skilled health professionals and researchers capable of improving the wellbeing of Canada's population.
