Pursuing Sociology serves as excellent preparation for various professions including social services, legal fields, media, and healthcare. Alumni frequently choose paths in education or vocational guidance, while others pursue opportunities in public administration, rehabilitation services, nonprofit organizations, and corporate sectors. With our emphasis on developing strong research capabilities, sociology graduates are frequently recruited for data collection and analysis roles across diverse industries. The discipline examines every dimension of human interaction, from personal bonds to organizational structures and broad societal patterns. Sociologists investigate numerous critical topics such as healthcare systems, family structures, criminal behavior, technological impacts, cultural trends, economic systems, gender studies, educational institutions, social stratification, and various forms of bias.
Our Gerontology Program partners with five academic departments, including Sociology, to deliver a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary educational approach. Participants benefit from diverse resources and collaborative opportunities across related fields. The program examines gerontological research and theory, with thesis projects or major research undertakings completed through partner departments maintaining an aging-focused perspective.
