Lakehead Arts One offers the chance to discover diverse disciplines within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities before declaring a specific major at the conclusion of your first year. Your university journey is about discovery – through Lakehead Arts One, you can sample various courses during your initial year to identify your genuine interests. You'll be able to select classes across multiple arts-focused fields such as: Anthropology, English, History, Indigenous Learning, Languages, Music, Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Visual Arts, and Women's Studies.
To support this adaptable approach, you'll work with a specialized advisor who will assist in identifying your interests, career objectives, and suitable majors. Our Department also organizes program exploration workshops and monthly faculty coffee chats to broaden your understanding of available choices. By the time you complete your first year at Lakehead University, you'll be prepared to make an informed decision about the ideal program and major for your future.

Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD),
or Completion of Grade 12 and the Secondary School Diploma,
A minimum of 6 Grade 12U or M courses, or equivalent, including program specific prerequisite courses,
A minimum 70%* overall final average
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme applicants who achieve their diploma with a total score of at least 24 may be eligible for admission. Three Higher Level subjects must be completed. Prerequisite courses can be presented at either Standard Level or Higher Level. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission. Some of our competitive programs may require a total score greater than 24.

Minimum Score for Paper Based Test (pBT) when Speaking is present - 550 (no component score less than 50.
