This program is designed for individuals who possess excellent physical and mental resilience, advanced verbal communication abilities, and a passion for delivering emergency medical care in crisis situations. The JIBC PCP program stands as British Columbia's sole primary care paramedic program accredited by Accreditation Canada. It surpasses the National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) standards set by the Paramedic Association of Canada (PAC) for primary care paramedics.
The intensive PCP certificate program spans 12 months and combines online learning, in-person instruction, and hands-on clinical training. Full-time courses are available in New Westminster, Victoria, Chilliwack, and Kelowna.
This comprehensive program equips students with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to work as primary care paramedics. The curriculum emphasizes emergency assessment techniques and patient management strategies for pre-hospital scenarios. Students gain thorough grounding in human anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medication effects to enhance their clinical judgment and emergency treatment capabilities for critically ill or injured patients in field settings.
