The Professional Firefighter program equips you with essential firefighting techniques to protect yourself, your team, and community members during emergencies. Hands-on instruction at an off-site facility provides realistic fire response scenarios in a supervised setting. The curriculum covers fire dynamics, vehicle extrication, emergency medical response, and effective crisis communication during simulated incidents.
Practical sessions introduce trainees to specialized gear like fire engines, water pumps, breathing apparatus, and hydraulic extrication devices including the Jaws of Life, preparing them for fire emergencies, vehicle collisions, and community safety situations.
Participants complete an eight-week practicum with either a professional or combined (professional/volunteer) fire department, subject to specific placement guidelines.
Trainees must reside on campus throughout the program, excluding periods spent in field placements.
