Our intensive 23-week Fire Training certificate program offers practical, hands-on learning that equips you with essential skills, knowledge, and certifications to become a competitive applicant for firefighting roles, industrial safety positions, medical first response, and other related fields. Beyond traditional fire and rescue services, graduates find employment opportunities in sectors like oil and gas, forestry, and mining. Located in Creston, BC, the program combines classroom instruction at the College's Creston campus with real-world training at the Town of Creston fire hall and live-fire facility, creating an immersive learning experience. Our instructors bring years of professional experience as firefighters and emergency responders. Graduates earn a College of the Rockies Fire Training certificate plus multiple ProBoard-recognized certifications, including NFPA 1001 Firefighter Levels 1 and 2, NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, and Emergency Medical Responder qualifications.

Completion and submission of Fire Training Certificate Program package
Meet a minimum physical fitness standard in areas of strength, endurance, and mobility the testing criteria are determined by the College in consultation with COTR's Fire Advisory Committee
Complete a written aptitude exam
Complete a comprehensive interview

TOEFL iBT - Overall 80 with minimum 13 in Reading, 21 in Writing, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking.
IELTS - Overall 6.0 with no band less than 6.0
