Our 12-week Railway Conductor program prepares you with specialized expertise for managing rail vehicles, opening doors to the fast-growing railway industry. Throughout the course, you will:
develop a thorough understanding of a train conductor's key responsibilities, focusing on the secure and effective transportation of rail cars
acquire techniques for properly assembling trains, arranging cargo based on destination and railway operational needs
build proficiency in safely redirecting railcars between tracks, a vital procedure for managing rail traffic flow
apply your knowledge practically using our dedicated mini rail yard, complete with functional tracks and rail equipment
become proficient in the Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR) and associated safety protocols to maintain regulatory compliance
study the mechanical components of rail vehicles, covering air brake mechanisms and communication technologies
enhance your professional communication abilities.
At least 50% in the following courses or equivalents:
Math 20-1 or Math 20-2 or Math 20-3 or Pure Math 20 or Applied Math 20, and,
A Grade 12 English
SAIT accepts high school course equivalents for admission.
English language requirement:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.0 in each skill/category
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): 60 overall band
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): A minimum score of 20 in each category
Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment (CLBA): A score of 8 in each section
Pearson Test of English (PTE): A minimum score of 53
Michigan English Test (MELAB): A minimum score of 51
Duolingo: 105 minimum
