The Master of Arts in Sociology provides advanced education in diverse sociological theories and methodologies. Our curriculum covers both classical sociological foundations and cutting-edge areas of social research. Students undertake investigations into modern societal issues and analyze cultural phenomena affecting people at individual, community, and worldwide scales. Our professors maintain affiliations with numerous research institutions, including the Centre for Interdisciplinary Cultural and Social Studies, the Broadcasting and Journalism Research Centre, the Technoculture, Art and Games (TAG) Center, and the recently established Milieux Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology. Recognized for promoting student involvement in research initiatives at all levels, our department also boasts Quebec's inaugural Research Chair specializing in Gambling Studies.

Qualification Requirements

Solid undergraduate preparation with a range of competence similar to that demanded of Major students at Concordia, and a minimum B average in their undergraduate studies. IELTS - 6.5 with at least a score of 6.5 in each of the four components. Scores below 6.0 - No Admission. TOEFL IBT - 90 or higher and no part under 20 in each of the four components. Scores below 80 - No Admission. DET - Duolingo English Test - Score above 120 - Score below 120 - No Admission.
