The Master of Arts program equips students with advanced theoretical knowledge and research capabilities. Designed for future sociology doctoral candidates, it offers rigorous training in sociological methods. The curriculum also prepares graduates for research roles in both government and corporate settings. Participants gain independence in performing studies, creating academic publications, and engaging in professional events. This is accomplished via diverse learning experiences including classes, seminar involvement, comprehensive exams, paid assistant positions, conference paper preparation, and guided thesis work.
An appropriate bachelor's degree with 5.0 full-course equivalents (FCEs) in sociology, with an overall B+ average in each of the last two years of post-secondary education. Those with excellent grades but whose preparation is insufficient will be required to take additional courses.
Applicants are also expected to have acquired basic research and statistical skills.
