The Building Engineering master's program enables students focused on building performance, heritage preservation, and fire safety engineering to deepen their expertise in the field while developing specialized competencies to meet growing industry needs across both private and public sectors.
Carleton's building engineering alumni have secured prominent roles in leading firms as building science professionals, energy analysts, sustainability advisors, heritage conservation specialists, computational modeling experts, and fire safety engineers. Many graduates also serve in public sector roles, including positions with federal agencies like the National Research Council, Natural Resources Canada, and Public Services and Procurement Canada, as well as municipal organizations (such as Ottawa's city government) and utility providers (including Hydro Ottawa).
