The Building Engineering master's program enables students focusing on building performance, heritage preservation, and fire safety engineering to deepen their expertise in the field while developing specialized competencies to meet growing industry needs across both private and public sectors.
Carleton's building engineering alumni have secured prominent roles with leading engineering firms as building performance analysts, energy simulation experts, sustainable design consultants, heritage structure rehabilitation specialists, computational modeling professionals, and fire protection engineers. Furthermore, numerous graduates work in public sector organizations ranging from federal agencies like the National Research Council, Natural Resources Canada, and Public Services and Procurement Canada to municipal entities (such as the City of Ottawa) and utility providers (including Hydro Ottawa).
