Human civilization is fundamentally shaped by language. Our extensive MA program, offered through the School of Linguistics and Language Studies (SLaLS), highlights language's pivotal role across educational, professional, community, and various social settings. Students can tailor their academic journey by combining elements from Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies to align with their individual research objectives. This distinctive North American graduate program stands out by integrating these two disciplines, which are usually separated into different departments at other institutions. Additionally, we provide TESL Ontario-certified courses, featuring practical training components.
The Collaborative MA in Digital Humanities enables students to investigate how digital innovations are transforming our engagement with arts, media, literature, and cultural expressions, while fostering collective memory and global connections. Participants will develop critical thinking skills through original research projects utilizing cutting-edge theories, methodologies, and technologies, while collaborating with peers, faculty, and community organizations. Our practicum offers hands-on experience with computational tools for cultural text analysis and introduces novel approaches for studying digital-era social dynamics and networked communities.
