Anatomy and histology explores biological structures. Initial coursework covers cellular composition (histology), fundamental mammalian biology tissues, and musculoskeletal anatomy. Advanced studies focus on four specialized areas: topographical anatomy (bones, muscles, nervous and circulatory systems); neuroanatomy (nervous system structure and organization); microscopic tissue analysis; and embryological development from conception to fetal stage. Practical dissection forms part of the curriculum.
Anatomy and histology specialists find employment in academic institutions, research organizations like CSIRO, medical centers, and pathology labs, frequently specializing in advanced microscopy techniques or tissue chemistry. Alumni have also pursued careers in education or joined scientific instrumentation companies.
