Exceptional high school graduates can pursue our dual degree program, which combines a three-year Bachelor of Science with a four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD). This unique pathway provides a strong scientific foundation that enhances your medical career prospects, whether you choose specialization, research, or education. During your science studies, you'll learn from leading experts, including Australian Academy of Science members, ARC Fellows, and recipients of distinguished awards like the Prime Minister's Prizes for Science. State-of-the-art facilities such as the Sydney Nanoscience Hub and Charles Perkins Centre will support your learning. The MD program meets all Australian Medical Council standards, qualifying graduates for provisional registration across Australia and New Zealand.
Anatomy and histology explores biological structures, beginning with cellular composition (histology) and fundamental mammalian tissues. Advanced studies cover four key areas: topographical anatomy (focusing on bones and vascular systems), neuroanatomy (nervous system structure), microscopic tissue analysis, and embryonic development. Practical dissection forms part of the curriculum.
Anatomy and histology specialists find opportunities in academic institutions, research organizations like CSIRO, healthcare settings, and diagnostic labs, frequently specializing in advanced microscopy techniques. Alumni have also pursued careers in education and scientific instrumentation.
