This practice-led Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program offers a structured yet flexible approach to experimental investigation within artistic disciplines. The PhD creates an intellectually stimulating setting where theoretical exploration and hands-on creative work intersect to advance art research. The curriculum emphasizes equal importance between practical studio work and the conceptual foundations driving artistic inquiry. Students can engage with diverse media including installation, sculpture, ceramics, spatial interventions, sound art, performance, digital media, video, painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, and metalwork.
Participants will critically examine their work's artistic, cultural and societal relevance while incorporating cross-disciplinary methodologies. The program culminates in a significant creative output - either an exhibition, performance or public presentation - evaluated alongside a comprehensive written analysis supported by audiovisual research documentation.
Graduates will be prepared for academic roles, institutional positions in cultural organizations, or independent careers as practicing artists and curators. The degree also qualifies recipients for research-focused positions in higher education and public sector research initiatives.
