ECU boasts Australia's most extensive cyber security research and education initiative. The Security Research Institute (SRI) underpins ECU's cyber security research efforts.
Renowned as one of the globe's top digital security and forensic teams, the SRI provides numerous PhD opportunities in cyber security fields. Featuring a globally acclaimed research team, the SRI produces rapid, high-impact results. Two faculty members serve on Interpol's Cyber Crime Experts Group. Recognized as an Australian Computer Society (ACS) Centre of Expertise in Security and designated by the Australian Federal Government as an Academic Centre of Cyber Security Excellence (ACCSE), ECU also hosts the federally supported Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CyberSec CRC). ECU's security research focuses on: Aviation protection; Digital forensics; Critical infrastructure defense; Cybersecurity; Human elements in security; Information warfare; Network and wireless protection; Physical security measures; Risk assessment; Tailored postgraduate research projects in these areas are designed with the postgraduate coordinator or potential supervisor.
