The Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science is home to 30 graduate students, typically welcoming six new candidates annually. The majority pursue doctoral studies, blending coursework with innovative research. This program aims to foster student autonomy and ingenuity while enhancing their scientific and technical expertise. With a favorable student-to-faculty ratio, the department promotes personalized mentorship. Academic and research efforts concentrate on foundational challenges in mechanical engineering and materials science. Students can specialize in one of four disciplines: Fluids and thermal sciences, soft matter & complex fluids, materials science, or robotics & mechatronics.
