The Yale School of Music's oboe program provides comprehensive instruction in solo, ensemble, and orchestral playing, along with specialized studies in reed crafting and teaching methods. Students receive one-on-one coaching, participate in weekly workshops, and are motivated to expand their musical horizons by engaging with both historical and modern compositions. Beyond solo performances, oboists actively contribute to chamber groups, a fundamental component of Yale's musical education. They also perform with multiple ensembles, including the New Music New Haven series and the Yale Philharmonia orchestra, gaining exposure to diverse musical works under the direction of renowned visiting conductors.
