The Yale School of Music's trombone program provides students with comprehensive training, allowing them to hone their abilities, study musical works spanning historical to contemporary styles, and showcase their talents in both small ensembles and full orchestras. Trombone players engage in weekly one-on-one instruction and group masterclasses. Beyond solo performances, they actively contribute to chamber groups, a cornerstone of the Yale musical curriculum. Participants delve into historical performance practices through the Yale Cornetto and Sackbut Ensemble, experiment with modern compositions in New Music New Haven performances, and gain orchestral experience with the prestigious Yale Philharmonia. These diverse performance platforms enable students to work with renowned visiting conductors while mastering an extensive range of musical literature.
