The New Testament concentration delves into the ancient linguistic and historical settings surrounding the formation of the New Testament, its analytical interpretation, historical reception, and the application of contemporary theoretical approaches. Learners have opportunities to collaborate with faculty from the Divinity School, along with scholars in Religious Studies, Classics, and related disciplines, examining literary theory, archaeological methods, theological perspectives, critical race theory, and feminist and gender studies. Participants develop exegetical abilities and deepen their understanding of early Christian communities within their Jewish and Greco-Roman milieus, while acquiring analytical frameworks to assess these texts' enduring influence. This program emphasizes cross-disciplinary methodologies.
