The Graduate Program in Religion is a collaborative initiative involving the Religion Departments at Columbia University, Barnard College, and Union Theological Seminary. This program focuses on examining religion's historical development, sacred texts, theoretical frameworks, and societal roles across diverse cultures and communities. A unique aspect of the curriculum allows students to pursue specialized studies in particular areas of religious scholarship while simultaneously developing foundational understanding of global religious traditions and the key methodologies used in religious research. This comprehensive approach serves as valuable preparation for teaching broad survey courses and provides essential context for specialized academic pursuits.
Applicant must have the equivalent of the U.S. baccalaureate degree with a superior examination record and can understand rapid idiomatic English and can speak, write and read English with a high degree of facility are eligible for admission.

Applicant must have TOEFL score of 600 on paper-and-pencil test, 100 on the internet-based test and IELTS score of 7.5
