The History of Science and Medicine Program (HSHM) operates as a partially independent graduate specialization within Yale's History Department. Students in HSHM earn History degrees with a focus on Science and Medicine studies while maintaining full departmental membership. While most participants work toward a PhD - which can be pursued alongside medical or law degrees at Yale or other institutions - the program also offers a one-year Master's option.
