Yale's School of Public Health (Department of Health Policy and Management - HPM) features a unique Health Policy program that delivers an exceptional learning journey. Students gain essential competencies in policy evaluation, statistical techniques, decision-making analysis, communication strategies, and crucial theoretical models from social sciences. Yet we aim beyond skill development: our mission is to equip graduates to drive meaningful transformation within healthcare policy arenas - cultivating future leaders. This requires nurturing students' enthusiasm, innovative thinking, and potential as policy innovators.
Accordingly, the curriculum centers on a compact set of mandatory classes, enabling learners to craft personalized academic paths - especially during their second year. Participants curate their own health policy course selections, with opportunities to focus on specific domains (such as substance abuse, health economics, at-risk communities, international health, or consumer behavior). These specialized academic journeys culminate in a comprehensive capstone seminar during their last term.
