The Division of Health Management and Policy provides graduate programs culminating in a Master of Public Health degree, as well as a dual-degree option combining MPH and Master of Social Work qualifications.
The MPH program in Health Management and Policy equips students with both theoretical foundations and practical expertise for diverse careers in healthcare administration and policy. Graduates pursue opportunities in hospitals, health networks, outpatient clinics, insurance providers, consulting firms, managed care organizations, and public health institutions. Curriculum development aligns with clearly defined graduate competencies. The program benefits from strong engagement with local healthcare leaders, including its John J. Hanlon Executive Scholar - a practitioner-faculty member who bridges academic and professional spheres while directing the HMP Professional Development initiative.
The Division holds membership in the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), collaborates with ACHE's Health Education Network, and maintains an active student chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives via the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders (SOHL).
