The Architectural Engineering degree is a four-year ABET-certified program featuring a culminating design project in the final year. Building on WPI's strong foundation in math and fundamental sciences, the curriculum provides comprehensive training in engineering principles relevant to constructed environments. Leveraging WPI's distinctive approach combining project-based learning with humanities and social sciences, you'll gain the expertise needed to emerge as ethical leaders in sustainable architectural design.
While pursuing your Architectural Engineering degree at WPI, you'll concentrate on mastering four key technical domains: structural systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and construction/management. Beyond core architectural engineering coursework, you can specialize in structural or mechanical disciplines through electives such as Steel Structure Design, Pre-stressed Concrete Engineering, and Energy Modeling for Buildings.
Our program also provides an accelerated pathway to complete both a BS in Architectural Engineering and an MS in Fire Protection Engineering within five years.
