The Department of Architecture provides two distinct undergraduate programs. These programs deliver comprehensive foundational education for students with defined career aspirations as well as those seeking versatile preparation for various professional paths. Architecture and Urbanism instruction spans diverse viewpoints and scales, encompassing structures to urban centers and metropolitan areas. Faculty primarily teach through studio-based learning, supplemented by workshops, lectures, seminars, and research initiatives that enrich architectural training. The curriculum incorporates numerous interdisciplinary subjects such as sustainable design, digital computation, material studies, construction techniques, urban infrastructure, political influences, community involvement, and cultural frameworks. The architectural design studio serves as an experimental space where these elements converge, allowing students to integrate design principles. The Architecture and Urbanism program awards a BSA, BSAD, Architecture Minor, Design Minor, MArch, and SMArchS degrees, plus a doctoral program jointly offered with HTC, Building Technology, and Design and Computation.
