The 33-credit Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education Clinical Practice program enables graduate students to obtain initial teacher certification for Elementary Education (K-6) along with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Coursework commences in May of the first summer and concludes in August of the following summer, incorporating field experiences into course requirements. Both content and pedagogy classes are available through evening on-campus sessions and online formats. This program features a year-long residency beginning in September, where participants spend three days weekly in local schools during fall and four days weekly in spring.

Qualification Requirements

A baccalaureate degree with either a major in a liberal arts or science or with a minimum of 60 credits of liberal arts.
Cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
Qualifying scores on a state-approved test of basic skills (PRAXIS CORE, ACT, SAT or GRE, or a combination of these).
Passing score on PRAXIS II content exam in Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects, Test Series 5001.
