The Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education provides graduate programs that enhance skills in content-specific teaching methods across elementary, secondary, and special education levels, enabling educators to critically evaluate and refine their instructional approaches. Students can pursue Master of Science or Educational Specialist degrees in these educational disciplines. Admission to all Master's and Specialist programs within CISE mandates possession of a Class A teaching license in the relevant area (excluding Special Education certification and non-certified Emotional/Behavioral Disorder pathways). While the Master of Science in secondary education offers both on-campus and online completion options, the Master of Arts in Teaching programs for Middle Level and Secondary education cater to career-changers with non-education bachelor's degrees seeking initial certification. The PhD in Curriculum and Instruction develops future faculty members, researchers, and educational leaders specializing in elementary, secondary, and special education, as well as those focused on pedagogical research.
