The Biology Department provides degree programs for students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Biology or a Biology minor. The Biology BS program builds on a solid foundation of core principles before progressing to specialized upper-division coursework. Hands-on learning in labs and fieldwork is a key focus of the department. Biology majors can specialize in one of four tracks: general biology, pre-medical studies, organismal biology, or ecology.

Organismal biology explores complete life forms throughout the biological spectrum. This discipline investigates physiological processes, behavioral patterns, structural forms, growth stages, reproductive strategies, and immune systems through an evolutionary lens. At WPU, our organismal biology program primarily centers on animal and plant studies, as these represent the most diverse multicellular life forms.
