Wichita State's Master of Education (MEd) in special education blends accredited, high-quality teaching with hands-on research opportunities in Kansas' largest school district, paving the way for sought-after careers across diverse educational environments. The program provides several specialization options. Designed for working professionals, most students pursue their degree part-time through our fully online evening courses. This program serves as strong groundwork for those considering doctoral studies in education. The high incidence track consists of 30 credit hours, equipping educators to support students with mild to moderate learning challenges through a combination of academic coursework, field experience, and either a capstone project or thesis. Students may opt to complete just the initial 23 credit hours to earn a high incidence education endorsement, at which point they are classified as non-degree-seeking graduate students.
Alternatively, participants can choose to finish only the first 23 credit hours to obtain their high incidence education endorsement, maintaining their status as non-degree-seeking graduate students.
