The Latin American and Latinx Studies undergraduate certificate integrates diverse academic disciplines to deepen your knowledge of the region's culture, history, geography, languages, communication, and global affairs concerning Latin America and U.S. Latinx populations. Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is fundamental for this program. This 12-credit certificate focuses on substantial Latin American or Latinx subject matter. Participants select four courses across various fields including anthropology, arts, geography, history, music, philosophy, political science, sociology, and Spanish. Many courses may count toward general education credits. To maintain interdisciplinary learning, students should limit themselves to no more than two courses per department. The program accepts up to six transfer credits, such as those earned through study abroad experiences.
