American Cultural Studies enables learners and educators to examine power structures, disparities, and empowerment across dimensions of race, gender, social standing, faith, economic class, and physical ability. Our curriculum specifically focuses on marginalizing practices that restrict national inclusion and how these realities are experienced. We examine institutional influences, policy impacts, societal narratives, and cultural mechanisms. Students develop skills in historical research, social investigation, textual evaluation, and applying critical theories. The program introduces foundational concepts including Settler Colonialism, Feminist Theories (including Queer perspectives), Critical Race Studies, Border Studies, and Transnational frameworks.
ACS supports individuals passionate about analyzing these societal mechanisms. It provides a platform to explore fundamental aspects of unequal nation formation. The program leverages diverse academic resources from across the university's departments and schools.
