Earn your teaching license in just four years Pursuing a teaching career is challenging, yet attainable at Western New England University within a four-year timeframe. Ideal candidates possess a genuine enthusiasm for education and must fulfill all Massachusetts DESE licensure prerequisites. This program prepares graduates to instruct first through sixth grade students in Massachusetts, with certification reciprocity extending to about 40 additional states through the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement. Students will pursue dual majors in Elementary Education alongside one specialization: English, History, Mathematical Science, Psychology, or Sociology. Our meticulously designed curriculum, developed through cross-departmental collaboration, ensures completion of both majors within four years, fully preparing graduates for classroom teaching.

Core courses encompass: Methods for Reading and Language Arts, Elementary Curriculum Design, Instruction for English Language Learners, and Integrated Elementary Topics (Arts, Health, and Physical Education).
