The Exceptional Students & Elementary Education (ESEE) program stands out as one of the few genuinely integrated elementary and special education programs nationwide. This cohort-based approach enables students to complete their bachelor's degree while obtaining dual teaching certifications for elementary education, serving as the culminating two years of their education degree. The program equips future educators to teach both neurotypical students and those with disabilities across kindergarten to 6th grade (K-6) environments, including general, inclusive, and special education classrooms.
This groundbreaking ESEE program weaves together key educational frameworks like Culturally Responsive Teaching, Co-Teaching, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Response to Intervention (RtI), Instructional Technology, High Leverage Practices (HLPs), and Data-Driven Decision Making throughout its curriculum. Recognized for excellence, the ESEE program holds a position among College Choice's top 25 special education degree programs in the country
