The Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A) in Ceramics is an intensive three-year program combining studio practice, seminars, art history studies, and elective courses. Our curriculum fosters diversity, encourages deep conceptual exploration, and engages with contemporary critical dialogue to cultivate artists who push boundaries and create impactful work. Students refine their technical abilities, material expertise, and artistic vision through dedicated research, culminating in a sophisticated portfolio.
Morean Spring Residency: Every spring, graduating students take part in a sponsored short-term residency at the Morean Workshop Space (MWS) in St. Petersburg, Florida. During this residency, participants engage with guest artists and curators while immersing themselves in the dynamic St. Petersburg-Tampa art community through professional development and exhibition chances. The residency also features a 2-day Miami excursion for museum and gallery tours. The program includes three Florida visits: 1.) January: Florida Heat Woodfiring Workshop (16 days), 2.) February: Visiting Instructor Workshop (5 days), and 3.) April: Visiting Instructor Workshop (5 days).
Morean Ceramics Research Center Summer Workshop Series: Each summer, graduate students join an immersive on-campus workshop series, collaborating with visiting artists, designers, and curators.
Financial Support: All graduate students receive the Audrey Morean Petersen Graduate Fellowship, which may cover full or partial tuition, provides substantial material funds, and includes a stipend. After enrollment, the Frostic School of Art and Graduate College offer various additional funding options for travel and research projects.
