Students can specialize their education by pursuing a special education teaching certification in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), emotional impairments (EI), or learning disabilities (LD), or alternatively working toward a master's degree as a behavior intervention specialist. These programs align with competency standards set by the Council for Exceptional Children and/or the Michigan Department of Education. Upon enrollment, each student receives an academic advisor. Before beginning coursework, students are required to consult with their advisor to create a personalized graduate study plan and undergo an endorsement assessment.
