Our Accelerated M.A. or 4+1 program enables English majors to complete a Master's degree with just one extra year of study. Up to 12 senior-year credits can apply toward both your Bachelor's and Master's degrees, reducing the required M.A. credits from 30 to 18. This allows you to pay undergraduate tuition rates for nearly half of your graduate coursework.
Western Michigan University's English Department provides an Accelerated Graduate Degree Program (AGDP) that lets undergraduates start earning credits toward their Master's degree. Qualified students can enroll in up to 12 credits of 5000- and 6000-level courses that count toward both degrees.
The English AGDP requires 30 total credit hours - 12 completed during senior year and the remaining 18 during the accelerated program's second year.
Students must:
Hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0
Hold at least a 3.5 GPA in English (at least 14 credit hours in English, excluding ENGL 1050)

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6.5
Pearson Test of English, Academic Module (PTE): 54
