This Certificate offers flexible learning choices, including in-person and online formats, for students pursuing Michigan's ZS endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education.
To earn the state ZS endorsement, students must fulfill three key criteria:
Complete 27 graduate credits, with at least 15 credits (5 courses) focused on early childhood education.
Gain professional experience across two of three early childhood age groups (infants/toddlers, preschool, or kindergarten through third grade).
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
An overall grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) in the last two years of undergraduate work. Applicants with a GPA of less than 3.0 may be granted a Conditional Admission. This will be converted to a regular admission if students receive a grade of B or better in the first two graduate courses (six credit-hours) taken.
Minimum English proficiency test scores:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 80 iBT
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6.5
Pearson Test of English, Academic Module (PTE): 54
Michigan English Test (MET): 57
