The formative years play a vital role in supporting young children facing developmental challenges or special needs. Within our master's program in early childhood education's special needs track, you'll explore the varied backgrounds and growth patterns of young learners while designing suitable learning spaces and curricula. You'll examine how families, communities, and social policies influence early development and intervention strategies, adopting a holistic perspective for assessment and educational planning. The program concludes with a yearlong internship in an inclusive educational environment.

Our Master of Education program offers advanced training for educators, administrators, and early childhood professionals seeking to enhance their skills and expand career prospects in special needs education. Optional electives can lead to teacher certification, and with focused coursework, you may qualify for licensure as an Early Childhood Special Educator. We also offer dual certification in both early childhood education and special education. The curriculum aligns with standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and New Hampshire's Teacher Certification requirements.
