A combined bachelor's and master's degree pathway is offered for Chemistry or Forensic Chemistry students pursuing a Master of Science in Chemistry. This accelerated program enables high-achieving undergraduates to complete both degrees within five years.
Faculty mentor students on contemporary analytical equipment utilized across industrial, academic, and governmental research settings. Every participant gains practical research experience, potentially resulting in sponsored attendance at regional and national scientific meetings and co-authorship of peer-reviewed publications with professors. Acquire advanced laboratory techniques that open doors to careers in forensic laboratories and various sectors including biotechnology, chemical manufacturing, clinical analysis, food science, environmental testing, and pharmaceutical development. Our program offers the most thorough forensic chemistry curriculum, covering crime scene investigation (CSI), expert witness testimony, and analytical techniques for diverse physical evidence (such as fingerprints, firearms, tool marks, glass fragments, hairs, fibers, controlled substances, biological stains, DNA, metals, paints, soils, arson accelerants, explosives, paper, and ink). The program also includes toxicology analysis methods for various specimens (including blood, urine, saliva, sweat, hair, vitreous fluid, gastric contents, and multiple tissue types). Among the earliest established forensic chemistry programs in the nation.
