The Cancer Cell Biology Graduate Program provides interdisciplinary biomedical research education for students pursuing Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees. Our research concentrates on understanding cancer's molecular foundations, from its causes and development to practical medical applications. As one of only 50 institutions acknowledged by the National Cancer Biology Training Consortium (CABTRAC), we offer doctoral candidates thorough training in contemporary cancer biology, emphasizing cellular and molecular perspectives of cancer's beginnings, advancement, and therapies. The curriculum specifically addresses cancer varieties and concerns pertinent to global, national, and West Virginian communities. This program cultivates skilled researchers proficient in public communication, community involvement, clinical collaboration, and analytical reasoning. Earning a Ph.D. requires students to successfully defend their dissertation research before faculty committees and publish original, peer-reviewed work as lead authors. This academic journey typically spans five years.
