The Doctor of Philosophy in biomedical sciences with a specialization in cell and developmental biology demands completion of 72 semester hours of graduate coursework. Candidates must sustain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 throughout the program. Admission pathways include joining research labs within the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, participating in Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs, or securing direct placement into a particular laboratory. The Biomedical Science Program enhances student flexibility, allowing them to investigate multiple graduate options during their initial year before committing to a specific concentration such as cancer biology, cell and developmental biology, experimental pathology (direct admission only), free radical and radiation biology, molecular medicine, molecular physiology and biophysics, or pharmacology.
