Doctoral degrees in Microbiology and Cell Biology, along with a PhD in Neuroscience. Cross-disciplinary initiatives with robust connections to other departments are highly encouraged. Those focused on environmental sciences can meet microbiology degree requirements while engaging in diverse studies spanning biology, chemistry, entomology, plant and soil sciences, and plant pathology, collaborating with the Center for Biofilm Engineering. For students pursuing biomedical sciences, microbiology and immunology degree requirements can be fulfilled while exploring medically oriented subjects such as biology, chemistry, and veterinary science, in partnership with the WWAMI Medical Education Program.

Official transcripts (one of which must have a conferred degree posted) reflecting all undergraduate and/or post-baccalaureate study. Applicants who are alumni of MSU do not need to submit their transcripts.
An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). Applicants with post-baccalaureate experience must have a graduate GPA of at least 3.00.
Up to three (3) letters of reference.
Three (3) Year Bachelor's Degrees: MSU accepts a three year Bachelor's degree from applicants. You are welcome to submit an application which will be reviewed by the department to determine whether you are a strong enough candidate to be admitted. If admitted, you may be asked to take some undergraduate courses at the start of your graduate degree at MSU to strengthen your background
