Grasping chemistry reveals the remarkable essence of our world at its most fundamental level. This field explores the substances we utilize, the medications we rely on, our surrounding environment, and the nourishment we consume. Our Department equips you with cutting-edge skills to drive future breakthroughs. Through rigorous coursework, practical research, and independent studies guided by distinguished faculty, you'll develop the ability to inquire, test, and create. Chemistry undergraduates embark on diverse career paths. Alumni have secured positions across pharmaceutical companies, industrial production, government agencies, and public sector roles—essentially any profession valuing strong scientific expertise. Numerous students advance to medical or pharmacy programs, while others pursue graduate studies in STEM disciplines along with fields like journalism, law, public administration, and industrial development. Each April, our Bennett Careers for Chemists initiative connects students with industry experts for career insights. Alumni are currently earning doctorates in conventional chemistry specialties as well as emerging areas including brain science, drug development, environmental toxicology, radiation chemistry, earth sciences, and immune system research. Those entering the workforce directly often start as analytical chemists or lab technicians in corporate settings.
