Webster's composition program centers on modern concert music while also promoting exploration of diverse musical genres and technologies, including jazz, electronic music, and computer/MIDI applications. Composition majors receive personalized guidance from faculty composers. Performance opportunities for student works include the Webster University New Music Ensemble and Wet Ink initiative. MM graduates gain skills for careers in private teaching or public performance as soloists, ensemble players, or composers. Each student's curriculum is customized through consultation with their primary advisor. The composition MM follows National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) accreditation standards, with Webster being an NASM member institution. Those seeking broader studies can opt for the Master of Arts (MA) in music.
