Our program provides a solid foundation in counseling theory, philosophy, and evidence-based research principles. You'll study diverse subjects ranging from developmental psychology to relationship counseling and substance abuse treatment. The curriculum examines legal, ethical, and professional considerations affecting various counseling specialties, including mental health, school, and rehabilitation counseling. Students pursuing Clinical Mental Health Counseling have the option to specialize in Art Therapy, which trains future Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) and art therapists. Artistic expression often enables communication that words cannot capture.
Through the creative process of making visual art, art therapy helps individuals articulate and resolve emotional challenges while promoting self-discovery and development. Art therapy professionals assist clients across all age groups and skill levels in clinical, educational, therapeutic, and artistic environments.
