Designed for those seeking to develop advanced research and evaluation capabilities for evidence-based practice in social work and welfare at all practice levels. This certificate equips students to formulate research questions and employ both quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate program outcomes and effectiveness in addressing social issues. Participants will also gain expertise in applying research findings to practice theories and interventions. The program may appeal to prospective doctoral candidates in social work who require additional preparation time or wish to explore doctoral studies before formal enrollment. All coursework is selected from existing PhD program offerings. Requirements include completing 18 graduate-level semester credits within three years while maintaining a 3.0 minimum GPA.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet the Admission standards of the Graduate School and the School of Social Work.
Completion of a master's degree in social work, counseling or related human services field.
Two or more years of post-master's professional experience in social work or related human services field. (Preferred)
Minimum grade point average of 3.0 in previous a master's degree program, 3.5 GPA is recommended.
Submission of written statement of interest, personal resume, all undergraduate and graduates transcripts.
Three letters of recommendation, two of which must be academic references characterizing the applicant's potential to engage in social work research and evaluation.
Personal interview with Program Director and/or members of the PhD Program Steering Committee.
IELTS 6.5 (overall band), 79 internet-based (iBT and iBT Home Edition) 550 paper-based (PBT)
