The dietetics coordination program equips students to become eligible for professional registration. This field's core expertise lies in nutritional science, while the practical application of nutritional care draws from various related disciplines including food science, business administration, psychology, social sciences, economics, and communication strategies. Students build a robust foundation in scientific and complementary subjects through carefully chosen prerequisite courses, supporting electives, and specialized professional coursework. Upon completion, graduates earn a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and gain immediate eligibility to take the national certification exam without requiring additional internship experience. The program maintains accreditation from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), an authoritative accrediting agency recognized by both The Council on Post-secondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Prospective students can verify program accreditation status through ACEND's website or by calling 312-899-0040.

Qualification Requirements

International applicants must complete the equivalent of a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree, including all state and external/internal examinations required for the degree. Some three-year general degrees (from Canada, India, Pakistan, France, Lebanon, etc.) may not be equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree. However, if you have completed an honors degree, additional undergraduate coursework beyond the three-year bachelor's degree, or a graduate degree, you may be considered for admission. As an international student, you are required to meet the university's English proficiency requirements for Undergraduate Admissions. Minimum scores of 79-80 TOEFL iBT and IELTS 6.5 are required for admission to Wayne State. If your native language is not English but you have been instructed in the English language, you are not necessarily exempt from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Test of Written English (TWE) and the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) requirements.
