The Veterinary Sciences: Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience (IPN) doctoral program offers exceptional flexibility, making it perfect for students seeking advanced graduate studies with IPN faculty while avoiding the Neuroscience track. This frequently applies (though isn't exclusive) to department researchers specializing in muscle/biomechanics. Given the diverse potential thesis subjects, students and their advisors collaboratively determine suitable coursework, which generally covers foundational classes, graduate seminars, career development workshops, and proposal writing instruction. Veterinary Sciences: IPN students engage with initiatives organized by the Integrative Programs in Biomedical Sciences (iPBS). All iPBS-affiliated programs share identical first-semester requirements (lab rotations, career preparation, and courses in scientific methodology and data analysis). Following this initial semester, students may transfer to any participating program to finish their degree. Available options include Neuroscience, Molecular Bioscience, Immunology and Infectious Diseases, and Combined Residency PhD Programs (Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Microbiology). IPN, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Graduate School uphold equal opportunity principles for disabled individuals across services, programs, and employment. Students with documented disabilities receive customized support matching their needs and academic requirements, with appropriate accommodations provided for their program's essential components.
